Do All Signers Have to Be Present at the Same Time for a Notarization?

When a document has more than one person signing, one of the first questions that may come up is: Does everyone have to be there at the same time?

The answer depends on the document and the circumstances.

For a notarization, the person whose signature is being notarized must personally appear before the notary. Florida law recognizes personal appearance through physical presence and also provides for authorized online notarization.

When multiple people are signing, it's important to understand what the document requires before scheduling the appointment. Some documents may involve multiple signers, witnesses, or other specific requirements.

That's why I encourage clients to gather their documents and review the signing instructions before the appointment. If you're unsure about the logistics, asking questions ahead of time can help prevent delays or surprises when the notary arrives.

One of the advantages of using a mobile notary is the convenience of arranging the appointment around your needs. Instead of traveling to an office, Magnolia Signature Services comes to an agreed-upon location throughout Panama City and Bay County.

If your document has multiple signers or special signing instructions, let me know when scheduling your appointment. While I cannot provide legal advice or determine what a document requires, I can help you understand the notarial process and make sure the appointment is planned appropriately.

A little preparation before the appointment can make the signing experience much smoother for everyone involved.
