Appointment Prep: What to Have Ready for Your Mobile Notary

Booking a mobile notary is designed to make notarization more convenient. Instead of traveling to an office, your notary comes to an agreed-upon location.
But what should you have ready when the notary arrives?
A little preparation can make the appointment much smoother.
📄 1. Have your documents ready
Make sure you have the complete documents that need notarization available for the appointment.
A Florida notary cannot notarize a signature on a document that is incomplete or blank.
If you're unsure whether something needs to be completed before the appointment, check with the person or organization that provided the document.
🪪 2. Have your identification ready
Your notary needs to establish your identity before completing the notarization.
Florida law permits a notary to rely on specified forms of identification that meet the statutory requirements, including certain driver's licenses, identification cards, and passports.
Having your identification ready when the appointment begins helps keep the process moving.
👥 3. Make sure the signer is present
The person whose signature is being notarized must appear before the notary at the time of the notarization. If more than one person needs to sign, make sure everyone who needs to participate is aware of the appointment and signing requirements.
✍️ 4. Don't sign ahead of time
If you're unsure whether your signature should be completed before the appointment, wait and ask. Your document may require a particular type of notarial act, and the notary will need to complete the appropriate notarial certificate.
🏡 5. Have an appropriate place to sign
One advantage of a mobile notary is convenience.
Your appointment may take place at your home, workplace, or another mutually agreed-upon location. Having a clean, comfortable surface where documents can be reviewed and signed is helpful.
🌸 A little preparation makes a difference
Your mobile notary appointment doesn't have to be complicated.
Have your documents ready, have your identification available, make sure the appropriate signer(s) are present, and ask questions before the appointment if you're unsure about something.
At Magnolia Signature Services, my goal is to make the notarization experience professional, organized, and convenient from the moment you schedule to the moment the appointment is complete.
